Aadishri

Capsicum annuum · F1 Hybrid
An F1 hybrid green chilli bred for the fresh green-chilli market — short, glossy green, highly pungent fruit on a well-branched, spreading plant. A long-season crop that keeps producing for months, so one planting supports repeated pickings for a market table or an Indian grocery account.

About this variety

Aadishri is an F1 hybrid green chilli (hot pepper) selected for the fresh market: attractive, glossy green fruit, 9–10 cm (3.5–4 in) long and 5–7 g each, borne pendant on an abundantly branching plant. It is highly pungent and picked green.

As a warm-season crop it is started in a nursery and transplanted once frost risk has passed and the soil has warmed. Pepper seed germinates slowly below 68°F, so warmth at the seedling stage matters. The long picking window rewards steady irrigation and feeding through the summer.

How to grow

Raise seedlings

Sow in a fine-tilth nursery bed or trays, 1 cm (0.4 in) deep in rows about 10–12 cm apart, and keep consistently moist — never waterlogged (damping-off is the main risk). Seed rate is about 200–250 g/ha (~81–101 g/acre). Start seed somewhere warm, since pepper germinates slowly below 68°F.

Transplant & spacing

Seedlings are ready at 12–15 cm (5–6 in) with 3–4 leaves, about 25–28 days after sowing. Transplant only after frost risk has passed and soil is at least 60°F, ideally 70°F. UF/IFAS suggests starting seed about six weeks before the field date.

Feeding

The crop stays in the field for several months, so plan for sustained fertility. Work well-rotted compost or aged manure into the ground during prep, and base fertilizer rates on a current soil test.

Watering

Keep soil evenly moist through flowering and fruit set; irrigate for the full summer in drier regions. Avoid poorly drained ground.

Harvest

First picking begins 80–85 days after sowing, with repeated pickings over a long season rather than one flush. Pick green at marketable size.

As with all our varieties, F1 hybrid seed is for planting only — not for food, feed, or oil.

Good to know before you buy

  • This is an F1 hybrid — saved seed won't breed true, so buy fresh seed each season.
  • It's a transplanted crop — budget nursery time and start seed warm (pepper germinates slowly below 68°F).
  • A long-season chilli: plan irrigation and feeding for the full summer of repeated pickings.
